There are some great ideas in here, Andrius, that you are welcome to start new topics to pursue. Just select some text and then look for the "reply as linked topic" link to the right.
I really like to experiment with technology that can serve African civil society organizations (and beyond!) and try to share learnings collaboratively about them in the HOWTO and TOOLS categories on this forum. I'd love to see you jump in there and add your own. Our main tool at the moment is this forum powered by discourse, then of course we have our main website at www.kabissa.org powered by drupal and civicrm. We're currently upgrading it to OpenAid, a drupal distribution suitable for a network. The new site under development (and with a currently broken frontpage, sadly) at http://beta.kabissa.org. We also have experimented with webinars using GoToWebinar.
We used to use IRC for chat which we provided access to via our website, but that did not really go especially well. There are some people developing chat functionality in discourse which will be interesting to explore, and I have been contributing to discussions about that which you may be interested in joining. One of the features I suggested was adding etherpad functionality to a topic for enabling shared editing of a text.
The public domain vs creative commons vs copyright debate would be worth having to share learning around the costs and benefits of using each, and the underlying philosophy/beliefs that underpin them - though honestly I am happy with cc and don't want to get hung up on it myself. Kabissa content is all cc, as is the license under which posts are shared on this forum, which is a default discourse setting that I have not found the need to change.
